8 DAYS TURKANA SPECIAL- (CHALBI DESERT)
This rugged 1,800km expedition in a purposely built truck/land cruiser takes you to some of Africa’s worst roads seeing beautiful mountain forests surrounded by hot dusty deserts eventually arriving on the shores of the Jade Sea (Lake Turkana)
Day 1: Nairobi/Samburu
Depart Nairobi in the morning via mt. Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve. Camp under canopy of trees or pitched tents on the edge of Uaso Nyiro River for meals and night.
Day 2: Samburu
The day is spent game viewing in the park for rare species of wildlife. Meals and overnight in the camp.
Day 3: Samburu/Marsabit
Head north along the trans-african highway to Marsabit and extinct volcano heavily forested. Leave the camp to visit a lodge situated on the edge of a water filled crater. Drive to the famous Lake Paradise. Some steep hills are impassable when wet.
Day 4: Marsabit/Kalacha
Visit Marsabit town and a volcanic crater before the desert and lava flows. Camp at Kalacha on the edge of Chalbi Desert.
Day 5: Kalacha/Lake Turkana
Depart early crossing the desert or negotiate through alternative roads if wet. Arrive at our beach campsite outside Loyangalani soon after lunch. Use traditional Turkana huts with cool breeze from the lake or pitch tents. Relax from the scorching sun of this remote area.
Day 6: Lake Turkana
Spend the day relaxing and bathing only interrupted by a short excursion to the surrounding areas. Visit the community at Loiyangalani with an evening optional visits to the Turkana Manyatta for traditional dances under star studded sky at an extra cost.

Day 7: Turkana/Maralal
Journey via South Horr, Baragoi to Maralal. Samburu people abound in their red ochre.
Day 8: Maralal/Nairobi
Head south via Laikipia Plains and Thompson Falls (Nyahururu) lunch enroute to Nairobi arriving late afternoon.
