Starting in Nairobi, you’ll travel to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, famous for its rhino sanctuary with the opportunities to see the Big Five. Next, head to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its large flocks of flamingos and the chance to spot rhinos along the lake's shores. Continue to the legendary Maasai Mara, where thrilling game drives bring you close to lions, leopards, and the annual wildebeest migration in july to september. Then, visit Lake Naivasha, where boat rides allow intimate views of hippos and birdlife.

Finally, journey to Amboseli National Park, set against the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, for unforgettable elephant encounters. Each destination showcases Kenya’s rich landscapes and wildlife diversity, creating an extraordinary and comprehensive safari experience before returning to Nairobi.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi -Ol Pejeta Conservancy
The adventure begins with an early pick-up from the airport /residential area and drive through central Kenya to the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The drive takes about 3-4 hours. Arrive in the conservancy, around mid-morning and set off to see the chimpanzees, later on, head for your lunch at the lodge or tented camp. After lunch, then proceed with the game drive for the rest of the aftyernoon. If interested, one is free to visit the education center to learn more about the conservancy. Head over to your lodge /Camp as you prepare yourself for dinner and overnight.

Ol Pejeta is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and critically endangered northern white rhinos as well as a wide variety of other wildlife and birds. This makes it a prime destination for conservation enthusiasts and nature lovers. The Conservancy also offers other variety of activities including night drives, guided bush walks, rhino tracking, lion tracking, and community visits. These activities can be arranged at an extra cost with the lodges.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart Ol Pejeta Conservancy and journey down to the floor of the Rift Valley, with a brief stop at Nyahururu's Thomson Falls, named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers to trek from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880s. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your camp/lodge just in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge

Lake Nakuru National Park offers a wide range of experiences from diverse landscapes to abundant wildlife, birds, and vegetation. The park is known for its vibrant flocks of flamingos that paint the lake’s edge in hues of pink, the park is also a sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinos. It features acacia woodlands and open grasslands that provide habitats for buffalo, lions, leopards, and Rothschild’s giraffes in the park. Birdwatchers can enjoy great views from Baboon Cliff and can spot over 400 bird species, including pelicans and fish eagles, making Lake Nakuru a haven for nature and bird enthusiasts.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara National Reserve
Depart from Lake Nakuru and head towards Mara. You can also opt to stop over in Narok for a few minutes to get supplies or wash room if needed as it is the last major town. Arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch, check in at your lodge / camp, have your lunch, and have a little rest from the lengthy drive. In the afternoon, you can opt for an afternoon safari game drive in the park, or decide to visit the Maasai village to experience the Maa culture or a guided nature walk depending on the location of your camp

Evening game drives in the Maasai Mara are beautiful, with the warm sunset lighting up the landscape. The soft glow of the setting sun creates amazing photo opportunities as animals become more active. It’s a perfect time to see predators hunting and enjoy the peaceful yet exciting atmosphere of the Mara. Dinner and overnight at camp/lodge.

Day 4: Maasai Mara National Reserve (Full Day)
Set out a wild expedition with an early breakfast as you brace yourself for a full-day adventure in the park. To ensure maximum interaction with the wild, lunch will be packed and you will take it at the picnic sites in the park. After your lunch, continue your afternoon game drive until late evening.

If you did not manage to go to the Maasai village on the first day and you are interested, you can leave the park in the late afternoon and head over to the village to experience the culture. Balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at camp.

The great Maasai Mara National Game reserva is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering a chance to witness a bustling ecosystem that is home to the "Big Five" and over 450 species of birds. It hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration—one of Africa's Seven Natural Wonders—where over a million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles journey from the Serengeti into the Mara each year. The migration's thrilling highlight is the river crossings, The Maasai Mara is a place where nature and culture intertwine, providing endless inspiration, adventure, and unforgettable experiences.

Day 5: Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha.
Bid your fare from them Mara, and proceed to Lake Naivasha, arrive in Lake Naivasha by mid-morning, and make your way to Hell’s Gate National Park. As one of the few parks in Kenya where guests can walk or cycle alongside wildlife, Hell’s Gate provides an opportunity to encounter zebras, buffalo, antelopes, and a variety of bird species, including rare vultures and eagles.

You can either decide to walk, cycle, or have a drive through the park. The park offers an exciting atmosphere where you can explore the Hell's Gate Gorge, climb Fischer’s Tower, or unwind at the nearby Olkaria Geothermal Spa. After your activity at Hells Gate leave for your hotel/lodge and check in for lunch. Take a rest and then in the afternoon head over to Lake Naivasha, for an exciting boat ride and chilled sunset by the Lake. The lake is especially famous for its large population of hippos, which are commonly seen both in the water and grazing along the shores, particularly in the early morning or late afternoon. The birdlife around Lake Naivasha is extraordinary, with over 400 species recorded, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel/lodge/resort.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha - Amboseli National Park
After a restful morning at Lake Naivasha continue your journey towards the renowned Amboseli National Park, where the adventure ahead promises stunning landscapes and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Arrive in Amboseli in time for lunch, check-in at your lodge/camp, have lunch, and head over for an afternoon game drive in the park, which is when wildlife is active and temperatures are cooler. Traverse the open plains to spot Amboseli’s iconic elephant herds, as well as zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and potentially lions or cheetahs. This is also a great time to capture views of Mount Kilimanjaro if the skies are clear. Return to your lodge/camp as the sun sets. After freshening up, enjoy a hearty dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Amboseli National Park (Full day)
Begin the day with an early departure from your lodge or camp. The golden light at dawn makes this the perfect time for photography, with a high chance of spotting predators. Clear morning skies often reveal breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds, and you’ll likely encounter these majestic animals roaming the plains, with Kilimanjaro providing a remarkable backdrop. Around midday, find a shaded picnic spot within the park. Enjoy a packed lunch while soaking in the sounds of the wilderness, surrounded by sweeping views of the plains.

As temperatures cool down, animals become active again. Revisit the swamp areas to watch elephants returning for their evening drink or giraffes nibbling on acacia branches. After sunset, return to your lodge or camp. Following a refreshing break, enjoy a well-deserved dinner, reflecting on the day’s memorable wildlife encounters. Many lodges offer stargazing or relaxing by the campfire, ending your Amboseli safari with a tranquil evening in nature.

Day 8: Amboseli National Park- Nairobi Carnivore Restaurant
After an early breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, as you drive away from the park, you may catch Kilimanjaro in your rearview mirror—a breathtaking last memory of Amboseli’s iconic landscape.
